Located in Monforte d’Alba, one of the 11 privileged towns producing Barolo, Josetta Saffirio is a family-run organic winery with a rich history spanning over 200 years. The winemaking tradition took a significant turn in 1975, when Josetta and her husband Roberto dedicated themselves to cultivating Nebbiolo with passion and precision. Their efforts were rewarded with outstanding quality, and in 1985, they released their first Barolo with a label designed by Josetta herself. In 2000, their daughter Sara Vezza embraced the family’s winemaking legacy, focusing on sustainability and innovation. In 2006, the winery integrated a new eco-friendly cellar, insulated with natural cork to reduce thermal exchange. Sustainability remains a priority, with a photovoltaic system, CO₂ reduction measures, and a Sustainable Certification since 2015. Now undergoing organic certification, the estate invites visitors to explore its vineyards, walk among oak barrels, and immerse themselves in the timeless tradition of Piedmontese winemaking.
Spanning 5 hectares of pristine vineyards, Josetta Saffirio produces around 40,000 bottles of authentic Piedmontese wines, expressing the unique character of the region. The winery’s flagship Barolo embodies the elegance and depth of the Langhe terroir, while its Langhe Nebbiolo and Barbera d’Alba showcase the finesse and vibrancy of local varieties. The estate also crafts a Nebbiolo d’Alba Spumante Metodo Classico, adding a sparkling touch to its portfolio, alongside the Langhe Rossese Bianco, a rare varietal originally from Liguria’s Cinque Terre. Every bottle reflects the family’s deep respect for the land, ensuring a harmonious balance between tradition, sustainability, and modern craftsmanship.
