Kapitel Zwei Wine

About the Winery

Kapitel Zwei Wine—meaning “Chapter Two”—is a personal and visionary project born from a life change. After 25 years in corporate communications, the founder traded office life for vineyard work, starting a new chapter in Krems an der Donau, Austria. Following a three-year degree in viticulture and wine business completed in 2024, the winery was established with a clear focus on organic and sustainable practices.

The vineyard, Kremsleithen, is a historic site first mentioned in 1266, abandoned for decades and replanted in 2022. Located at 300 meters above sea level on steep slopes above the Krems river, it offers a unique terroir of loamy, sandy soils and clay. Here, the philosophy is simple: let nature be the vigneron, working with minimal intervention and deep respect for the land.

About the Wines

At Kapitel Zwei Wine, the focus is on cultivating French grape varietiesChenin Blanc, Roussanne, and Sémillon—uncommon for the region, as part of an ongoing experiment in terroir expression. Grapes are hand-harvested from a single vineyard and transformed into wines with a low-intervention approach: no additives, no filtration, and organic farming throughout.

The wines are typically aged in amphora for at least one year, enhancing texture, purity, and a natural expression of the fruit. The first vintage was bottled in August 2024, marking the beginning of this innovative journey. Reflecting the winery’s unconventional spirit, the wines are also presented in 500 ml bottles, offering a distinctive alternative to traditional formats. Each bottle represents exploration, craftsmanship, and a fresh perspective on Austrian winemaking.
