Wonderful evening at Monte delle Vigne
After a tour of the winery, we finished with a fantastic wine tasting in the glass room of the winery, overlooking the barrels and the production area! The king and queen wines of the winery truly deserve their names, and they are a must-try when you visit!
All in all, it was an unforgettable experience!

About Winery and Wines
Founded in 1983, Monte delle Vigne started with a small 7-hectare vineyard and a vision to revive the native grapes of Colli di Parma through sustainable practices. The winery has grown to encompass 40 hectares, producing a diverse range of wines from native varieties like Barbera and Malvasia, as well as international grapes such as Merlot, Chardonnay, and Cabernet Franc.
In 1992, Monte delle Vigne introduced Nabucco, the first still red wine produced in Parma, a blend of Barbera and Merlot aged in French oak barrels. This wine quickly became a symbol of the winery and the region. A few years later, Callas, a 100% Malvasia di Candia, followed, showcasing the white grape’s mineral and crisp elegance.
The winery's growth accelerated in 2003 when Paolo Pizzarotti became the major shareholder, driving expansion and international competitiveness. Innovations such as the 2006 underground cellar with geothermal technology and rainwater recovery solidified Monte delle Vigne’s commitment to eco-sustainability. This approach culminated in the 2021 harvest when the winery was officially certified organic by the ICEA.
Monte delle Vigne continues to innovate, with new labels like Brusata, Il Chiuso, Ginestra, and Quattro Laghi, each telling the story of the unique terroir of Ozzano Taro and the Colli di Parma. Today, the winery blends tradition with modern viticulture, producing wines that reflect the character and history of the land.
Monte delle Vigne is located in Ozzano Taro, where the ancient Via Francigena, a route once traveled by pilgrims on their way to Rome, forms the natural divide between the estate's vineyards. Set at an altitude of 200 to 300 meters, the winery cultivates 40 hectares of vineyards positioned for optimal sun exposure. From the outset, Monte delle Vigne has focused on cultivating native grape varieties such as aromatic Malvasia di Candia, Barbera, and Lambrusco. These vines thrive in the unique terroir of Colli di Parma, perfectly expressing the region's character and producing wines of remarkable quality.
Monte delle Vigne’s dedication to the land, tradition, and sustainable practices allows for the creation of wines that are both authentic and refined, reflecting the perfect harmony between vine and environment.
