Perticaia
About the Winery
Perticaia was founded in the early 2000s with a humble beginning of just 6 acres of vineyards. The name "Perticaia," which historically refers to the plow, symbolizes the transition from sheep farming to agriculture, marking a deep connection between farmers and the land. This meaningful name was chosen by our owner to represent our beloved winery, nestled in Montefalco, in the heart of Umbria—Italy's green heart.
Over time, Perticaia has evolved towards an organic farming model, with a focus on sustainability and respect for the environment. Our winery is harmoniously integrated into the landscape, allowing the vines to thrive naturally within the local ecosystem. Today, Perticaia spans 50 acres, including fields, olive groves, and vineyards. We proudly cultivate native grape varieties like Sagrantino and Trebbiano Spoletino, which are emblematic of our region, alongside international varieties such as Sangiovese, Cabernet Franc, and Sauvignon. The winery is a family-owned venture, committed to producing wines that are true expressions of our terroir.
About the Wines
At Perticaia, our wine production varies each year, reflecting the unique character of each growing season. Depending on the climate, we produce between 100,000 and 120,000 bottles annually. Our dedicated team closely monitors the ripening process to ensure that the grapes reach their full potential. When the time is right, we harvest the grapes entirely by hand, a practice that respects the integrity of each variety, whether it’s our native or international grapes.
Once harvested, the grapes are handed over to our skilled enologist, who oversees the natural fermentation process using indigenous yeasts found on the grape skins. Depending on the wine we are crafting, the aging process takes place in either stainless steel tanks or carefully selected French oak barrels. Each vintage is a unique creation, yet our goal remains consistent: to produce wines with great character and elegance that can be enjoyed and appreciated by wine lovers everywhere.

A wonderful experience
Starting with the welcome from the staff, very friendly...
The explanation of the production process and the tasting were very pleasant.
I recommend it to everyone, but if you are here, you already know that it's worth having experiences of this kind...
Excellent experience
Passion and attention to detail
We were welcomed and guided for over two hours through the winery's facilities and then on the journey through their most representative wines.
Thanks to the month (February) we enjoyed the guide (truly skilled and passionate) all to ourselves and we truly immersed ourselves in the territory, in the history and in the flavors of this land.
Excellent value for money, both for the time spent and because the 6 wines offered are accompanied by local cured meats and cheeses.
A special mention for the Riserva production and the tasting of the 2003 Sagrantino.
