At Quinta das Escomoeiras, we proudly cultivate a half-hectare of ancient vineyards, gracefully adorning the terraces overlooking our rural tourism buildings. These vineyards serve as a testament to the traditional cultivation and vine training methods of bygone eras. Within this area, over 16 distinctive grape varieties flourish, including vines that have aged for several decades. Notably, we have a remarkable variety called "batoca" that has thrived for over a century.

In 1997, we established a new vineyard, spanning approximately 2.5 hectares, that basks in the sun on terraces descending the mountain. These vineyards are sheltered by the surrounding forest, shielding them from the river's coolness and dampness. Thoughtfully divided into sectors, our vineyards consist of white grape varieties such as azal and pedernã (or arinto), as well as red grape varieties like borraçal, padeiro, and vinhão, all of which are characteristic of our region.

The combination of granite and schist soil, along with the favorable eastern and southern sun exposure, imbues our wines with a delightful fruitiness and dryness. Expect wines with a balanced acidity, complemented by a medium to high alcohol content.
