About Winery and Wines

Villa Giada is located on the Ceirole hill, close to the village of Canelli, midway between Asti and Alba. The winery was established in 1934, coming from a tradition of farming. The ancient cellar, where today our wines are aged in barrels, has been built in 1790 as a farm producing and selling grapes. The vineyards, over 25 hectares with an exposure ranging from south-est to south-west at an altitude of 320 meters, are gathered around three old farm houses. - The vineyards belonging to "Cascina Ceirole", the original house in Canelli, are mostly producing white grapes. Here the optimal conditions of the terroir: soil, exposure, climate are perfect for Cortese, Chardonnay and Sauvignon. But no doubt that the undisputed leader of the hills is the Moscato d'Asti. - ″Cascina del Parroco″ in Calosso consist mainly of Barbera d'Asti and an old grape variety known as Gamba di Pernice. - ″Cascina Dani″ in Agliano Terme is located in the particularly vocated area of the "Nizza" Barbera d'Asti. From these grapes ″Dedicato″ and ″Dani″ are obtained. The soil, mainly made up of a compound of calcareous marls is the best to obtain typical wines harmonious and complete. The growing cycle of the grapes is carefully monitored from winter pruning up to bottling of the wine and its refining. Harvest is made by hand. All process of production follow Eco compatible agriculture according to CE regulation n. 1257/99.
