Chandrima and Kai formed a husband-and-wife team that turned a shared passion into a profession with the creation of CKC's WOW. Their journey into the world of winemaking found its home at Weingut Emil Franz.

Chandrima, with a background in Mathematics & Natural Sciences, specializes in interdisciplinary studies and is affiliated with research institutions across Europe and Asia. Kai, a Dipl.-Ing Process Engineer, brings over three decades of experience, having held leadership positions in the food and chemical industries worldwide. In addition to his engineering expertise, Kai is also a sommelier.

With over 20,000 grapevines of Riesling and Pinot Blanc spread across 3.5 hectares of vineyards, some of which are more than 50 years old, Weingut Emil Franz stands as a winery rich in history and heritage, spanning almost a century. The estate is home to some of the finest award-winning wines that have garnered critical acclaim across Europe and beyond.

The vineyards, situated on some of the region’s renowned south-facing slopes, are part of the world’s best Riesling terroirs. Benefiting from year-round sunshine, the unique combination of sloped terrain, a long berry ripening period, and a warm microclimate ensures optimal grape harvests. Traditional cellar winemaking processes further enhance the natural qualities of the grapes, delivering wines with a perfectly balanced sweetness and acidity year after year.
