About Winery and Wines

In 2020, Weingut Poth proudly celebrated its 100th anniversary, marking a century of dedication and passion passed down through generations. Nestled in the charming town of Röttingen, in the southernmost corner of the Main-Franconian region, the winery is surrounded by the picturesque Tauber Valley. The town itself, with its medieval walls, seven defensive towers, half-timbered houses, and an elegant baroque town hall, offers visitors a glimpse into the rich cultural history of this romantic corner of Germany.

The winery’s vineyards are located in the "Röttinger Feuerstein," a unique and renowned vineyard that offers not only the ideal terroir for viticulture but also beautiful hiking opportunities. Visitors can explore the vineyard trails and enjoy breathtaking views of the Tauber Valley throughout the year. Each season brings a different experience, making a visit unforgettable.

At the heart of Röttingen, Weingut Poth invites travelers to relax and enjoy their delicious Franconian wines in the cozy, welcoming atmosphere of the tasting room. Whether you're a casual wine enthusiast or a dedicated connoisseur, the winery's commitment to quality and hospitality ensures a memorable experience.

At Weingut Poth, viticulture follows the principles of natural, sustainable farming. The vineyards are carefully cultivated, with vibrant flowering herbs and grasses improving the soil’s health and providing a habitat for beneficial insects that help maintain ecological balance. By using the biotechnical entanglement method, the winery has successfully eliminated the need for insecticides. Reduced pruning and strategic defoliation further protect the vines from harmful fungi, ensuring that the grapes thrive in a healthy environment.

Franconia is renowned for its diverse range of wines, with the Silvaner grape being the standout variety. Weingut Poth’s Franconian Silvaner is celebrated for its fresh acidity, distinctive minerality, and balanced flavors, making it a true representation of the region’s viticultural heritage. The winery also produces excellent Müller-Thurgau, Riesling, and Pinot Noir, each reflecting the unique characteristics of the local shell limestone and Keuper soils, as well as the temperate climate.

Additionally, Franconian wine is known for its traditional "Bocksbeutel" bottle design, symbolizing the region's deep-rooted wine culture and commitment to quality. Whether you're sampling a classic Silvaner or exploring the full range of Franconian varietals, Weingut Poth’s wines offer a perfect blend of tradition, craftsmanship, and natural excellence.
