Very informative tour of the vineyard and...

Very informative tour of the vineyard and manufacturing facility, decent 2 course meal as well. The Sommelier , who's name I didn't get, was a very entertaining and knowledgeable host, would definitely do it again just for the education. Spent £15 on a bottle of the HV Rose, not too dear. A couple of minor things, #1 dispense with the Drum & Bass for classical or easy listening, more in keeping with the surroundings, #2 the smell of cooking is a bit overpowering in the dining area - maybe better extraction.

Who would have thought. A vineyard at...

Who would have thought. A vineyard at the top of a hill in Holmfirth facing North West. Small restaurant that provides good value breakfasts and afternoon teas. Didn't go in but there is a small unit hidden into the hillside that provides holiday accommodation. The tour is a must do. Very interesting to hear why the vineyard is here and of course information regarding the wine making process. Some very good wines can be tasted too. Groupon do some very good value vouchers.

Visited the Vineyard 13th and 14th June...

Visited the Vineyard 13th and 14th June 2016 This is a tricky review for me to write. We spent two days at the Vineyard and my favorite part was the tour guide who made the day enjoyable because he was witty and made the day interesting and we did not feel bored. The food for afternoon tea and the breakfast was lovely and presented well. The staff who we spoke with were friendly chatty and helpful. Now the negitive bits, our accommodation was not like the photos we reviewed. If we had known before this I would of stayed in the village. I have put a review on Trip Advisor with phots so if you want to know more just take a few minutes to read my review if you have any concerns about going to the Vineyard. So the tree stars are for the staff and food and wine tasting experience. The lack of the other stars are the accommodation only.

We must have been past the turn-off...

We must have been past the turn-off for this place more than a hundred times since moving to the area, but today my wife and I decided to take the turning off the bypass to have a look. I'm so glad we did! Despite being relatively close to both the Caterham Bypass and the M25, on taking the turn-off it's like popping into a beautiful little bubble of rural idyll. A little reed-surrounded lake, complete with jolly-looking old chaps fishing peacefully, then a short track past some horses and suddenly you're in a 'secret' valley overlooking vineyards and fields of peacefully-grazing cows. We stopped for a traditional cream tea (excellent jam and clotted cream, with tea served from a generous china pot) and a glass of Godstone Vineyards' rose (they do wines by the glass as well as the bottle) and just sat in the sunshine on the vine-covered verandah and just took in the scene. The staff were wonderfully friendly and there was a high chair for our baby (as well as a load of toys that we didn't have any use for on this short visit). As we sat, we were joined (and left) by a succession of walkers and cyclists (it's just off the North Downs Way), who all seemed equally delighted to stumble upon the place for something to eat & drink (although I imagine that most had probably set out for it rather than bumbling across it as we did). I hadn't planned on writing quite such a gushing review, but it really was a wonderful find and one we'll be returning to with friends an
