Azienda Agricola Fattoria Le Pupille

Our story begins in Maremma, on the southern part of the Tuscan coast, bordered by the Tyrrhenian Sea and embraced by the hills that rise toward Monte Amiata. Here, in 1985, Elisabetta Geppetti took over the leadership of what was then her family's estate. She opened a new chapter that turned a personal vision into a solid and lasting reality.

Today the estate covers 420 hectares, including 85 hectares of vineyards, 20 of olive groves and 18 of hazelnut trees. The vineyards lie between Pereta, Magliano in Toscana and Istia d'Ombrone, at 150 to 350 metres above sea level, on soils that range from sandstone to veins of ferrous clay.

Fattoria Le Pupille is one of the leading ambassadors of the Maremma and of the Morellino di Scansano denomination worldwide. It produces about 450,000 bottles a year and is present in nearly every major international market. Elisabetta was the first president of the Consorzio di Tutela del Morellino di Scansano.

The winery's philosophy is to make fine, elegant wines that faithfully express the character of the territory and help raise the standards of winemaking in the Maremma, always with a strong commitment to the environment.

Today Elisabetta is supported in running the estate by two of her five children, Clara and Ettore, whose energy and vision are driving new projects and shaping the future of Fattoria Le Pupille.

Ten wines make up the Fattoria Le Pupille range. Each has its own character, but all share the elegance and commitment to quality that define the estate.

The icon of the estate is Saffredi, a Bordeaux-style blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Petit Verdot. Its story began in 1987, when a young Elisabetta Geppetti created it together with the oenologist Giacomo Tachis. It marked the beginning of Maremma's rise on the international wine scene and is still one of its most respected wines.

Equally typical of the estate's style are Poggio Valente, a Sangiovese cru from a vineyard bought in 1996 and aged in French oak; Le Pupille, a pure Syrah; RosaMati, a refined Syrah-based rosé; Poggio Argentato, a fresh white blend of Sauvignon Blanc, Petit Manseng, Semillon and Traminer; and Piemme, an elegant dry Petit Manseng.

Pelofino is the young and lively red, a fruity blend of Sangiovese, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. Solalto is a sweet wine made from dried Traminer, Sauvignon and Semillon grapes grown around Pereta.

The range is completed by Morellino di Scansano and its Riserva, wines with a strong territorial identity. Morellino has been made here since 1985, is the estate's most produced wine and represents the starting point of its journey.
