Poggio Argentiera was founded in 1997 with the purchase of the Adua farm, a property that dates back to the beginning of the 20th century when the Maremma marshes began to be drained. The 15 acres (six hectares) of Morellino di Scansano vineyards began to produce grapes and the new cellar was built. In 2001, the property was enlarged with the acquisition of another farm, Keeling, located in Baccinello. To the old but prestigious existing vineyards were added new ones, and today the winery owns more than 21 hectares of vineyards under the Morellino di Scansano appellation. The philosophy of Poggio Argentiera combines the work in the vineyard with the highest respect for the vine and its production cycle. Since 2009, the management of Poggio Argentiera has been converted by following the principles and practices of organic farming and breeding, with the goal of finding the perfect balance between the vine and the surrounding environment.

Adua is located in an area adjacent to the Maremma Natural Park, with the beach area of Marina di Alberese in front, about 3-3.5 miles (5-6 kilometers) away. The soils here are predominantly sandy and loamy with little clay and organic matter. The situation in Keeling is quite different. Here, the elevation on the hills of Scansano is higher. The natural inclination of the land, the exposition and the very stony composition of the soil made possible the planting and processing of vineyards having outstanding potential and unique characteristics.
