Discovering Costaripa: A Journey into Mattia Vezzola’s Wines

My friends and I (six of us in total) visited the Costaripa vineyard during our trip to the Garda area. We weren’t quite sure what to expect, as we hadn’t done much research in advance, but we were ready to be pleasantly surprised — and let me tell you, it was an amazing experience!

Our guide, Francesco, did a fantastic job — he was friendly, easy to understand, and very engaging in his presentation.

We were particularly impressed by both the wines and the vineyard itself. It’s clear from the very beginning that this winery is all about quality. While most wineries rely heavily on machines, Costaripa still performs much of the work manually — limiting production in favor of craftsmanship and excellence.

Let me tell you, I come from the same industry, and this is the best wine I’ve ever tasted. Their still Rosé is out of this world, and the sparkling Rosé is just as exceptional. Everyone we met was also incredibly kind and welcoming.

If you’re looking for a great activity, or if you’re genuinely interested in wine, the Costaripa tour is an experience well worth the money. I’d recommend it to anyone.

Costaripa è stata una scoperta fantastica, è stato interessantissimo partecipare al tour della tenuta e farci raccontare quanta passione ed esperienza c'è dietro ad ogni bottiglia. Lo staff è fantastico e la cantina è tenuta benissimo. La parte di degustazione è stata estremamente piacevole, tutti vini ottimi e interessanti. Decisamente consigliato.

È stata una bellissima esperienza. La cantina è molto bella e curata. La spiegazione è stata esaustiva e coinvolgente, si vede che il personale ama il proprio lavoro! Alla fine della visita abbiamo fatto la degustazione (unico piccolissimo neo i grissini confezionati ad accompagnare). Non è stata una semplice degustazione, ma più che altro un momento conviviale tra tutti i partecipanti e la nostra guida. I vini sono ottimi, quasi si percepisce l’amore e la cura del produttore. I prezzi sono accessibili. Hanno anche lo shop online…sicuramente appena consumeremo i vini acquistati in azienda li ordineremo di nuovo.

We learned a lot about how to produce really good wine. We have been at other wine producers, and could both see and taste the difference when the grappes and wine are produced much more manuelle, only with the best grappes, no machine pressing ex..
15.000 bottles was manuelle turned by hand several times each day. To "clean" the wine before corking it (you need to see for understanding).
This was also one of the job our tourguide, Caroline, did douring her woorking day.
She was also fantastic. University educated in vinery and spoke a perfect and fluid English.
No questions was unanswered, bravo.
Youngest wine was 6 years. So naturally also in the higher prize level, but ok for this quality of wine.
They have all types of wine, red, white, rose, sparkling ex..
So for us it was a good experience and a bit expensive, as we also left with 3 boxes of our favorite wine
