À propos du vignoble et des vins

The history of Château de Calavon is intrinsically linked with that of the Audibert family, winegrowers and owners of the estate for five generations. In the family and the region, it is an adventure that has been passed from father to son since the end of the 19th century. At the heart of the Pays d’Aix, the Château de Calavon is without doubt the oldest wine estate in Lambesc, renowned for the quality of its terroir and its organic wines. The first traces of viticulture date back to the period of the Princes of Orange, and it was then the Audibert family who developed and structured the Estate.

Château de Calavon has been recognized for over a century for its exceptional terroir, producing organic wines and olive oils with character. The estate has undertaken organic agriculture since 2013 and has 100 hectares of grapevines and 15 hectares of olive trees. The vineyard extends over two localities in the Coteaux d’Aix-en-Provence and IGP Méditerranée appellation, allowing a diversity of terroirs and exposures.

Chateau de Calavon is planted with around 15 grape varieties, including the oldest, century-old carignans and Grenaches, allowing a wide aromatic palette. This diversity, as well as the various winemaking techniques used in the cellar, from concrete to French oak barrels and semi-carbonic vinification, offer a complex aromatic palette to compose the wines with precision and balance in each vintage. Chateau de Calavon thrives to produce wines with distinctive character and constant finesse.
