Great interesting wine tour, the underground cellars are amazing and do lovely and cool on a hot summers day. The wine tasting was excellent. There was a great variety of very good wines. The views are spectacular, so this is a highly recommended place to visit.

Decent wine, great tour. The staff was friendly and genuinely enthusiastic about wine. My favorite part was the really cool limestone tunnels that they use as a wine cellar! Villa Melnik is a young winery and seems to be on the way up.

À propos du vignoble et des vins

Wine Cellar Villa Melnik is a family-owned producer of brave wines from indigenous and international grapes with a distinct Melnik character. We own 30 hectares of vineyards near the town of Melnik and a modern winery, which is open for visitors every day.

Our new, modern winery opened doors in the spring of 2013. Thus, we began to write our modern legend.

Villa Melnik continues a family tradition of vine growing and wine making with over two centuries of documented history. There is a document in our family archives, which shows that two hundred years ago, our great-great-grandfather owned vineyards in the area.
Our vineyards are situated in two massifs around the town of Melnik – the iconic wine capital of Bulgaria, which is present in all world encyclopaedias of wine. With the help of Bulgarian viticulture experts and agronomists, we carefully selected and planted our first vines in 2004: Broad-leaved Melnik Vine, Early Melnik Vine (Melnik 55), Ruen, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah, Pinot Noir, Sangiovese, as well as one of the oldest Thracian varieties – Mavrud. So far, we are the only producer in Melnik region who has planted Mavrud. From the local white grape varieties, we grow Tamyanka, Keratsuda, and Sandanski Misket, and from the international ones, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, and Viognier.

At Villa Melnik, we believe that with hard and consistent work, with an honest approach to Wine, and respect for Nature and the Client, we can produce excellent, world-renowned wines with a distinct Melnik character.

At Villa Melnik, we create delicious wines with a distinct Melnik character. 70% of our production is red wine, 50% is indigenous varieties.

From the indigenous grapes, we grow Broad-leaved Melnik Vine (Shiroka Melnik), Melnik 55, Ruen, Melnik 1300 Jubilee, Ruen, Melnik 1300, Melnik 82, Mavrud (reds) and Keratusda and Sandanski Misket (whites). From the international grapes, we grow Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah, Pinot Noir, Sangiovese, Chardonnay, Viognier, Sauvignon Blanc.
