À propos du vignoble et des vins

We, Chandrima and Kai are a husband-and-wife duo, and we decided to make our passion our profession. CKC’s WOW was born the day we embarked on a new journey together into the fascinating world of wine making. The meandering flow of our life found its calling in Weingut Emil Franz.

A few words about ourselves: Chandrima is an academician, with a background in Mathematics & Natural Sciences, specialising in interdisciplinary studies and is affiliated to research institutions across Europe and Asia.

Kai is Dipl.-Ing Process Engineer with an illustrious career spanning over three decades, which has seen him holding international leadership positions in diverse food and chemical industries worldwide.

Kai is a sommelier as well!

We have over 20,000 grapevines of Riesling and Pinot Blanc planted across 3,5 hectares of vineyards, with some that are over 50 years old. The winery with almost a century of history and heritage is home to some of the finest award-winning wines and have found critical acclaim in Europe and beyond. Our vineyards, that are planted on a few of the well-known slopes of the region, form a part of the best Riesling vineyards of the world. They are mainly located on the south facing slopes and hence are subjected to the all-year sunshine that is a blessing for the grape vines that adorn the vineyards. The unique interplay of slopy terrain, long berry ripening period and the warm micro-climate helps us harvest our grapes optimally on time, and this coupled with the traditional cellar wine making process, gives our wines the fine balance of sweetness and acidity year after year.
