Cabrita Wines is a family business, dating back to 1977, and is a project by José Manuel Cabrita, current owner who inherited the property - Quinta da Vinha - and the family business from his father. In 2000, he decided to invest in planting a new vineyard and invited winemakers António Maçanita, Cláudia Favinha and Joana Maçanita to embrace the project, and Cabrita Wines was born in 2007.

The project's philosophy is to value the Portuguese and native varieties of the Algarve, and to extract from them all the quality potential for the production of excellent wines, totaling about 16 ha of planted vineyards.

White varieties we have planted Arinto, Verdelho, Gouveio, Moscatel Galego and Encruzado, in red varieties we have Touriga Nacional, Negra Mole, Trincadeira, Aragonez and Tinta Miúda.

The 16ha are divided into 3 vineyards, and between them we have several soil combinations, which gives us an unique complexity to our wines. We have vineyards with clay-limestone soils with a very marked sandy component, others with a greater limestone and stony component, or soils with high clay contents, typical soils of the Algarve mountains. Our vineyards are protected by the Serra de Monchique, from the cold winds coming from the North and are bathed by Atlantic winds, giving a touch of sea air and freshness to our wines.

Cabrita Wines seeks in its wines to demonstrate the potential of each variety that makes up its blends. As such, the CLASSIC range represents the best version of the various varieties together, presenting to the market a WHITE, ROSÉ and RED, wines with enormous gastronomic potential, above-average quality for the level it occupies, and wines of high reliability.

With NATIVE GRAPES, we intend to make known in an isolated way (monovarietal) some of the varieties that best adapt to the climate and soil of the Algarve. Or, as is the case with Negra Mole, bringing back to our consumers' tables what is one of the oldest varieties in Portugal and exclusive to the Algarve. Variety that was at risk of being abandoned, and that was considered by many as unsuitable for the production of quality wines, but which nowadays, is already known as the "Queen’s grape variety from the Algarve".

CABRITA RESERVA WHITE and RED, are wines of limited quantities and of very special harvests and selected for a certain level of quality and elegance. These are wines in which the grapes are chosen with criteria and specific objectives and are aged for a long period of time in barrels and later in bottles.
