Cantina e Vini

Founded back in 1972 by Adeodato Montioni and left to his children as a precious inheritance (we are now in the 4th generation) , our farm was born in Montefalco, a small town in the province of Perugia (Umbria Region). Surrounded by pristine nature, our farm, with its olive groves, vineyards and grain crops of Umbria’s Appenine, spreads across gentle slopes and extends over 12 hectares of land. Here in this land teeming with rural life, rich in immaculate landscapes and the jealous watchdog of millennial stories, Montioni farms came to life. Its main inspirations have always been respecting traditions and nature in order to achieve the highest quality products. Our farm has always been an integral part of its surrounding territory, and its roots grow deep into ancient agricultural knowledge and holds respect for nature as a cornerstone for all of its activities. Through the years, the love for our territory and the symbiotic relationship we have with our surrounding environment has driven our desire to continue with traditional methods while introducing new machinery and ever-more sophisticated production systems. Further, we are staunch supporters of the native products that our territory has offered us for centuries, and which have allowed our splendid land to become known for its products of unquestionable quality. Our deepest conviction, which the results we have achieved over the years have transformed into certainty, is the importance of protecting the environment: the best results are obtained when operating delicately and passionately, when close attention and profuse care to the cultivation of the vineyards and olive groves takes place while completely respecting nature and the plants themselves.

Our vineyards spread across a small village of Montefalco, called Pietrauta. The type of soil in this area and the excellent sun exposure render it an optimal place for cultivating a perfect grape quality for producing an exquisite wine. We have always cultivated our vineyards using the Spurred Cordon Technique – an intentional company decision aimed at a medium-low vine productivity in order to guarantee a grape with higher nutritional value and, consequently an excellent quality red and white wine. The four types of vines grown are Grechetto, Merlot, Sangiovese and Sagrantino.
