Here is what you will live

Located in the heart of Levanto’s historical center, Laboratorio del Pesto (the Pesto Laboratory) prepares one of the most ancient and renowned sauces in the world since 1976.

In this laboratory, you will have the chance to learn how to make pesto with your own hands, following the tradition. After enjoying a welcoming glass of sparkling wine accompanied with a bruschetta with local extra virgin olive oil, you will taste some pesto sauce made according to the modern method while assisting the demonstration and explanation of how pesto is made with the mortar.

Then comes the time to prepare your own pesto sauce using mortar and pestle: wash and dry the basil leaves, pound them together with salt, pine nuts and garlic, add the Parmigiano cheese and the extra virgin olive oil. You will get a concentrated and perfumed pesto cream, which can be used on some pasta or on a bruschetta.

At the end of the experience, you will enjoy your own homemade pesto sauce together with a glass of white wine and some typical local products such as taggiasche olives (local small black olives), bruschetta with anchovies and a typical pastry with Limoncino.

Meet Monia at “La Nicchia Pestifera”, in Corso Italia 16 10 minutes before the starting time. From Levanto train station, follow the signs to the city center. You will be walking along Corso Roma. Turn left into Corso Italia and a little before the public gardens you’ll find the number 16 on your left.
