Wine & Cheese Tasting with a Michelin Sommelier at Gare Aux Vins in Paris
Here is what's in store for you
Your tasting takes place at Gare Aux Vins, a wine bar in Paris, where a sommelier with experience at a three-Michelin-starred restaurant will guide your session.
The experience is designed as an introduction to French wine. You will learn how to read a wine label and cover the basics of tasting technique, assessing a wine by its appearance, aroma, and palate. Your host will also explain the key wine regions of France, their main grape varieties, and their winemaking styles.
You will taste five wines from different French regions. The selection changes regularly but may include wines from the Loire Valley, Rhône, and Languedoc, as well as smaller appellations like Jura or Savoie. The lineup could feature Champagne, white, red, or sweet wines.
Each wine is paired with artisanal French cheeses, chosen based on seasonal availability. The platter typically includes several styles and milk types, with examples like Saint-Nectaire, Époisses, Comté, various goat cheeses, and blue cheeses.
Throughout the tasting, you can ask questions and discuss the pairings with the sommelier.
