About Winery and Wines

Our history starts in the mid 1940’s when Albino Rocca’s father Giacomo started in the wine business initially selling grapes from family vineyards and later making his own wine that was sold in demijohn. Thanks to the inheritance of some of our most precious vineyards in the 1960’s our grandfather was able to start what is now our winery Albino Rocca. Albino’s hard work and his strong support of our father Angelo Rocca laid the foundation that created a family winemaking tradition that has grown internationally over the years. Our history has been built together, year by year. First through the gradual acquisition of vineyards and the production of not only Nebbiolo, but also Dolcetto and Barbera in addition to our continuous effort to evolve the quality of our Barbaresco – which starts in the vineyards and continues in the cellar.

Four generations tell the story of Albino Rocca winery, it is a winemaking tradition that we continue through our own work yet is guided by those who preceded us; our grandfather Albino and our father Angelo Rocca. Today, as in the past, we are constantly in search of the highest quality wines that express the characteristics, purity and elegance that are so recognizably linked with the territory of Barbaresco. We want to evolve, while firmly maintaining our roots, so that in every label and bottle you can find those symbols of quality that represent Albino Rocca. The best expression of our business philosophy can be found in our vineyards, which are located in the most noble areas of production of Barbaresco DOCG, which consist of Nebbiolo and also include Barbera, Dolcetto, Cortese, Chardonnay and Moscato. Thanks to the help of Carlo, Angelo’s favorite student, and the care and attention in the vineyards giving respect for each varietal and appellation, and also with the exclusive use of large oak barrels for aging our Barbaresco DOCG, all of these things contribute to the unique characteristics of our wines at Albin
