About Winery and Wines
Maria is the daughter of a farmer. The desire to hand down her father's love for the land led her to create the Galassi Maria organic farm. She was nearly reaching her medical degree when her eyes took a different direction. She immersed herself in the green of her family business, handed down by her mother's grandmother since the end of the nineteenth century. She wanted a clean, as unpolluted as possible place. Even though her father had been practicing integrated agriculture for years, She decided to follow the rules of organic farming, which is easy because her land is surrounded by woods and a stream. Since 1994 her farm has been certified by the CCPB of Bologna, one of the oldest certifying bodies. For several years she's been a member of the Organic Production Standards Committee as a production representative. There are two concepts that she pursues with rigor: sustainability and land conservation, exploiting an ecosystem capable of perpetuating itself with minimal external interventions. Her father, with his common sense, taught her to the long times of a nature that can be helped, but never forced, which she's trying to convey to her son and grandchildren.
After years of cultivation, favouring the raw material and producing high quality grapes from soil rich in active limestone, evolved yellow sands, gypsum veins and marine tuff, She decided to make wine and I produced the first wine "natoRe", an anagram of Renato (her father). With the help of Francesco Bordini and his young but expert hand, over the years she added other wines. The operation to caring for the vineyards and the manual to pick-up of the grapes allowed her to achieve good results. Her first born natoRe was awarded 3 glasses by the Gambero Rosso and this year too She received the recognition of Bere Bene gambero rosso with Ca’Storta, the latest born.
