About Winery and Wines

The Roggero family is now represented by the 5th generation of winemakers. Located in Albugnano – a small town on the highest hill in Basso Monferrato area – we cultivate 7 hectares of vineyards in respect of landscape and environment.

OUR GRAPES ARE… NEBBIOLO, the king of Piedmontese grapes with international reputation, is the star of our Albugnano DOC and Albugnano DOC Superiore. FREISA, which embodies the winemaking history and the tradition of our territory. MONTANERA, a forgotten variety that requires special cares, but having a huge potential to be discovered. We’ve called our Montanera wine “Fortenera”. GRIGNOLINO and BARBERA, the two iconic Piedmontese varieties, are blended in our rosé wine “Rosa d’Autunno” (Autumn Rose). The last to arrive in our family is VIOGNIER, a variety from beyond the Alps, but with Piedmontese roots. Ampelographic studies show his close relationship with Nebbiolo and Freisa. Our winery is run following integrated pest management protocols and minimizing the use of chemical products, both for the containment of diseases and in the management of the soil.
