Bodega Severino Sanz S L

Winery in Ribera del Duero

About the Winery

Bodega Severino Sanz is a family-run winery dedicated to producing high-quality wines and promoting wine culture in the heart of the Ribera del Duero region. Located in Montejo de la Vega de la Serrezuela, in the province of Segovia, the winery is one of only two in the entire province to carry the prestigious Denominación de Origen Ribera del Duero.

Founded by siblings Mª Dolores, José Félix, and Iñaki, the winery was named in honor of their father, Severino Sanz, who passed down his deep respect for the land and passion for viticulture. Today, the estate spans approximately 12 acres of Tempranillo vines, including some vines that are several centuries old—a testament to the region’s rich winemaking heritage.

At Bodega Severino Sanz, the philosophy is simple: quality over quantity. The winemaking approach combines traditional methods with modern techniques, aiming to achieve excellence starting from the vineyard. Healthy grapes are at the core of great wine, and the team’s commitment to careful vineyard management ensures every bottle reflects the purity of the land.

The winery is open to visitors looking to immerse themselves in the winemaking process and enjoy guided tastings on-site. From ancient vines to modern precision, Bodega Severino Sanz offers a genuine Ribera del Duero experience rooted in family, tradition, and authenticity.

About the Wines

At Bodega Severino Sanz, the land and vineyards are at the core of everything. The quality and personality of each wine are deeply tied to the estate’s terroir, which is why vineyard work is carried out year-round with dedication and precision. The team applies rigorous viticultural practices, combining traditional knowledge with close observation of the vines to respond to the needs of each vintage.

The estate covers approximately 12 acres of Tempranillo vines, including several centuries-old plants, pruned in the traditional gobelet (glass) style. Located at an altitude of 980 meters, the vineyards are deeply rooted in both the land and the culture of Montejo de la Vega de la Serrezuela. This high elevation, combined with the age of the vines and careful manual vineyard management, contributes to a truly unique expression of Ribera del Duero.

Harvesting is done entirely by hand, using small boxes to protect the integrity of the fruit. In the winery, grapes are processed gently and with great care, allowing the natural characteristics of the terroir to shine through in every bottle. For Bodega Severino Sanz, excellence begins in the vineyard—the source of the authentic and refined character that defines their wines.
