About Winery and Wines

The army Commandant Mr. Rafael Cruz Conde founded the Cellar in 1902 in order to produce, age and commercialize the best wines from Montilla-Moriles area: generous wines, white wines, Pedro Ximenez sweet wines and Brandies. As a result of the intense wine activity, Cruz Conde became one of the most important wineries in the area, equipped with a great infrastructure. The activity development enabled the construction of a subterranean cellar composed by 6 vaulted naves and other cellars with an exceptional architecture.

The vineyards are mainly formed by the grapevine “Pedro Ximenez”, which represents 90% of the grapes production in the D.O. area. Thanks to high temperatures in this region, the grapes present a high content in sugars (244 grammes per litter of must) and as a consequence, a natural alcoholic degree (up to 14,5º after the fermentation).
