A winery that exudes history and passion

A wonderful experience in a winery with panoramic view over the vineyards and the ocean. The tour among the barrels was very interesting, we have discovered the history of the winery and the various type of wines produced, then the tasting of the 4 wines, each paired with a different cheese, Canary cheeses, was very excellent.

The visit was a gift from our children (Aino was the one organizing it), which made it extra special. We enjoyed the nice and professional tour, and that was the best part of the visit. The wine&cheese part was also nice (the products were tasty), but as there was no one _hosting_ us during the taste, there was no interaction between the participants, but everyone just sat in their own company.
I have been on such visits before and I really like when there is a host who tells about wine traditions and such in the particular location. Now we were pretty much left alone :-)

About Winery and Wines

Bodegas Monje, established in 1956 in the picturesque region of La Hollera, Tenerife, is a family-owned winery known for its blend of tradition and modernity. The vineyard, located 600 meters above sea level on volcanic soil, is nurtured by a unique microclimate. With a team dedicated to maintaining age-old practices while integrating modern technology, Bodegas Monje produces distinctive wines that reflect the rich heritage of the Canary Islands, with a focus on sustainable, hand-tended cultivation.

Bodegas Monje specializes in wines crafted from local grape varieties like Listán Negro, Listán Blanco, and Negramoll, all grown on volcanic soil. The winery honors traditional techniques, such as fermenting in original oak barrels, while embracing innovation to enhance the winemaking process. Alongside these core varieties, they experiment with pre-phylloxera grapes passed down through generations, offering wines that are unique to the region, showcasing both bold flavors and the natural influence of the vineyard’s exceptional environment.
