BODEGAS VIRTUS
(Winery in Ribera del Duero)
Reviews
Espectacular
Repetiremos, seguro
Totalmente recomendable

Perfect Winery tour in Ribera del duero
This winery is not the largest in Ribera del Duero, but I can confidently say that the quality here is second to none.
Javier, the manager of this Bodega, welcomed us warmly from the moment we arrived and gave us an interesting and friendly explanation of the winery's history, making us fall in love with its philosophy.
We then toured the winery's fermentation and aging facilities, receiving detailed explanations of the wine production process. I was very impressed by the extensive steps taken to select the grapes used in the wine and the use of eco-friendly yeast.
We also had the opportunity to taste wine maturing in oak barrels. Although this wine is still young and tannic, I felt that its aroma and balance were excellent. As a wine lover, this was a very special experience for me.
Later, we had a private wine tasting. Javier explained the aromas in detail and taught us how to properly taste the wine.
In the end, we bought three bottles and headed back.

About Winery and Wines
Bodegas Virtus was born from two passions: horses and wine. Founded in 1986 by Paloma Escribano in Ribera del Duero, this boutique winery has been a pioneer in sustainability and chemical-free winemaking, making Paloma one of the first female viticulturists in the region. Today, her son, Iñigo López de la Osa Escribano, leads the winery, which operates with a focus on family tradition, sustainable viticulture, and the unique microclimate of the Duratón River. The connection between horses and wine is deeply rooted in the family's history, offering visitors an experience rich in tradition and elegance.
Bodegas Virtus specializes in wines crafted from 100% Tempranillo and Albillo Mayor, sourced from old vines at high altitudes. Their signature wine, Virtus, undergoes a 36-month aging process in French oak barrels, offering depth and complexity. The Albillo Mayor wine, "El Sueco," is a standout white, aged in French oak for 14 months, providing a rich, nuanced flavor. Their commitment to sustainable viticulture ensures that every bottle reflects the unique terroir of Ribera del Duero.
