BODEGAS VIRTUS
About the Winery
Bodegas Virtus was born from two passions: horses and wine. Founded in 1986 by Paloma Escribano in Ribera del Duero, this boutique winery has been a pioneer in sustainability and chemical-free winemaking, making Paloma one of the first female viticulturists in the region. Today, her son, Iñigo López de la Osa Escribano, leads the winery, which operates with a focus on family tradition, sustainable viticulture, and the unique microclimate of the Duratón River. The connection between horses and wine is deeply rooted in the family's history, offering visitors an experience rich in tradition and elegance.
About the Wines
Bodegas Virtus specializes in wines crafted from 100% Tempranillo and Albillo Mayor, sourced from old vines at high altitudes. Their signature wine, Virtus, undergoes a 36-month aging process in French oak barrels, offering depth and complexity. The Albillo Mayor wine, "El Sueco," is a standout white, aged in French oak for 14 months, providing a rich, nuanced flavor. Their commitment to sustainable viticulture ensures that every bottle reflects the unique terroir of Ribera del Duero.

As for the wines, we loved them, both the white which surprised us, and the gran reserva which is spectacular.
Without a doubt, it's an experience that is worth it and at a really good price.
Wonderful
Although the winery is small, Paqui's explanations were excellent, and the wines were fantastic.
We also went with children, who had a great time.
Great Tour! Great Wine!!
Keep up the good work, Rafael.
An out of the ordinary experience!
The tour, excellent; the explanations and the personalized treatment, unique.
The winery itself, a model to follow, and very well run by this great host.
The wines, unforgettable; the white one in particular really surprised me.
The reds, some of the most delicious I have ever had.
I will definitely be back in a few years to try their gran reserva again!
My suggestion is: GO! You won't regret it.

Magnificent experience and good wine
Totally recommend visiting this winery.
Everything was perfect!!!
Spectacular
Going into detail, he explained the origin and history of the winery, we went through the whole process with a stop to try the latest harvests. Afterwards, we moved on to the explanation of the bottling and distribution. At the end, we did a tasting of their three wines with a cured meat pairing and a farewell gift.
We will repeat, for sure.
Totally recommended.
Wine tasting around Peñafiel
It's very close to Peñafiel and parking is easy.
They explained the whole process to us in detail and showed us the facilities where each step is carried out, from the vines to the final storage.
Then we had a very pleasant tasting with appetizers where they gave us a white, a reserva, and a gran reserva to try, in addition to the one they offered us at the beginning.
A small but interesting winery.
The white wine and the gran reserva, for my taste, were excellent.
Nice tour!
