Best vineyard tour and wines in Europe!
We booked here as a couple for a tour whilst off our cruise ship, we have previously been to three Tuscany vineyard tours and this by far is the most authentic and beautiful place.
Our tour guide was a Jean Paul (I hope spelled corrected), he was incredibly well knowledged on the vineyard history, the brothers and all the wines, and definitely made the tour one of the most memorable experiences.
I would definitely recommend purchasing a tour from Monticello Winery to get the full experience of a traditional, authentic Italian vineyard with the best appetites to accompany the wines.
My only suggestion to the brothers (owners) would be to increase pricing, the tour here was the most wonderful we have experienced in Tuscany (and a bonus for your tour guide!)

About Winery and Wines
Founded in 1980 by Pier Luigi Neri, Azienda Agricola Il Monticello is located in the picturesque hills of Sarzana, on the border between Liguria and Tuscany. Initially a passion project, the winery grew under the guidance of Pier Luigi’s sons, Alessandro and Davide, who embraced organic and biodynamic farming methods. The estate spans 14 hectares, with a commitment to sustainability and respecting the land. Visitors can explore the beautiful landscape and enjoy high-quality wines produced in harmony with nature.
Il Monticello produces a variety of wines from native Ligurian and Tuscan grapes, including Vermentino, Sangiovese, Canaiolo, Ciliegiolo, Pollera Nera, and Massaretta. The estate offers white, red, rosé, and passito wines, emphasizing a balance of tradition and innovation. Each wine reflects the unique terroir of the region, characterized by steep slopes and rich soils, which impart a distinctive mineral quality to the wines. These carefully crafted wines showcase the winery’s dedication to producing authentic and high-quality products.
