About Winery and Wines

La Biòca is a small winery in the Langhe zone. Our vineyards are situated in the villages of Monforte d’Alba (Bussia, San Sebastiano subzones), Novello (Ravera), La Morra (Castagni & Croera), Barbaresco (Secondine, Ronchi), Roddino (Corini). The most of the 16,0 ha under vines are of our property, 8.6 ha of them now in production. Around 7.4 ha have been recently purchased in the commune of Roddino and will be planted over the next two years. Our winery is located in Fontanafredda subzone of Serralunga d’Alba. Apart from the larger production facility, the 2 spacious warehouses and the underground cellar, the winery has a large tasting room with an enormous terrace and an "agriturismo" with 6 comfortable rooms. The range of our wines includes traditional wines of the Langhe, like Dolcetto, Barbera, Nebbiolo, Arneis and Muscat. Our selections include wines made of rare autochthonous varieties (such as Favorita, Freisa or Pelaverga) or from old vineyards (Barbera d'Alba Superiore, Barolo Riserva), as well as several Crus of Barolo and Barbaresco. In addition to white and red wines we also produce two rosés - a still and a sparkling wine and do some experiments with fermentation and refinement of different wines in amphorae. The first results of these very interesting experiments will be available soon on the market. The word "biòca" comes from the Piedmont’s dialect and is used to describe a decisive person often with a "tough head", just like us that with all our ambitions make our best to express the excellence of this land through the wines we make.
