About Winery and Wines

Lo Sperone, a young company situated in Montalcino, is managed by the Innocentini family. We have approximately ten hectares of land a kilometre north-west of the town, two of which are dedicated to vineyards, with olive groves and woodlands making up the rest. The vineyards enjoy a unique micro climate. Lo Sperone was built on the foundations of a pre-existing company. The family has worked hard to improve its wine-making production and techniques and has renamed the wines. A considerable amount of investment has been made to modernise the company, improving its competitiveness. Lo Sperone’s emblem of the lion, which has heraldic evocations, coupled with its name, which in English means spur referring to the rocky terrain in the area, is joined with lilies, representing Tuscany where the family are from, and specifically Vaiano, a small village in Castiglione in Teverina, north Lazio, where three generations of the family were born. Lo Sperone’s winemaker is Valerio Coltellini who is highly regarded professionally and has many years’ experience. Working with some of the finest regional Italian wineries who export worldwide, he is part of various regional wine-tasting commissions and has received many wine-making awards, including ’The best Italian Red’. Given our company’s modest size, our mission is to produce a limited but select number of high quality bottles of wine, through dedication and diligence.

Two lines of wines produced by the Lo Sperone a Classical line with two wines of Denomination of Controlled and Guaranteed Origin, and one Denomination of Controlled Origin, a Cru line with a wine Denomination of Controlled Origin and guaranteed and one Denomination of Origin Controlled and an IGT Toscana red with a special packaging of the bottle, as well as an IGT Toscana Bianco. The top wine is the excellent Brunello di Montalcino, a wine that expresses all the typical features of its name, also good Rosso di Montalcino and the other wines.
