About Winery and Wines

In 1976 Walter Ronca buys a plot of 20 hectares planted with vines in the hills of Sommacampagna, a beautiful place located between Lake Garda and the historic Verona. The passion for agriculture and good earth animates the heart of Walter, who runs the company until the arrival of his son Massimo in 1999. In all these years the whole harvest was delivered to the nearby social winery. However Massimo had in mind a more ambitious project. The starting point was the most obvious one, but the least obvious: the vineyard. He started a long work of leveling the land, replacing the vineyards by planting new rooted cuttings, 70% of which were replaced by new ones. Finally a cellar is built for the vinification and sale of the finished product. All of these goals are achieved in 2006, year of the first harvest, and with the beginning of the following year there are the first four labeled Ronca wines. Since the beginning, the idea to which all the people working in the winery refer to has been the one of to produce grapes and wines reflecting, and above all respecting, the beautiful territory we are part of and in which we live. We are part of and in which we live.

Since the winery was founded, the idea, to which all people working in the company follow, is to produce grapes and wines reflecting and respecting the beautiful territory we are part of and in which we live in. The starting point was the most obvious, but often overlooked: the vineyard. After arranging the pergola plots of the ’70s, others have been created with guyot. From the beginning the classic chemical weeding was abandoned in favor of a less impacting mechanical weeding. In 2013 the experiment began without the use of insecticides against the most harmful insect of the vine, the tignoletta. Given the enormous success, the use of chemical pesticides has been eliminated. At the same time we also worked to improve performance in terms of pollutant emissions in the cellar. In 2012 a photovoltaic system for the production of electricity was completed, allowing us to save about 30t of CO2 emitted per year. The energy of the sun is also used for the production of hot water, which covers about 85% of the needs of the cellar. In 2015, the evolution of this process aimed at minimizing chemical products and a higher environmental respect, the company converted from conventional to organic farming. The vintage 2018 sees the bottling of the first entirely BIO line of the Ronca Agricultural Company.
