In 2001, our parents and uncle made a bold decision to leave everything behind and pursue a dream: a life dedicated to the land and winemaking. With their expertise from the energy sector, they designed one of the most technologically advanced wineries in Europe, choosing Bastardo, our father’s hometown, as the perfect location. This choice was not by chance; Bastardo’s wine-growing history dates back to 1312, nestled along the ancient Via Flaminia, where travelers once enjoyed fragrant wines on their journeys between Rome and northern Europe. Today, the winery is surrounded by 30 hectares of vineyards, set against the backdrop of medieval castles that create a unique and timeless landscape. At Signæ, three words define us: technology, genius, and sustainability. We embrace modern advancements to minimize chemical use in both vineyard and cellar, producing high-quality, natural wines with minimal sulphites that are as gentle on the body as they are on the environment.

Our estate spans 55 hectares, with 30 hectares dedicated to vineyards that thrive in the lacustrine soils of the Tiberino Lake basin, particularly well-suited for cultivating Sagrantino, Sangiovese, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Grechetto. Our mission is to offer premium wines that honor the authentic Umbrian tradition while protecting the environment. Through the integration of technology, georeferencing, and meteorological studies, we avoid the excessive use of chemicals, creating wines that are natural and pure, beyond any standard certification. Every year, we meticulously tend to our vineyards, ensuring that the soil is mechanically processed and hand-finished. The grapes are carefully hand-harvested in small baskets, preserving their integrity for optimal quality. The result is a collection of wines that perfectly express the rich character of our land, blending innovation with tradition.
