About Winery and Wines

The winery covers 15 hectares of vineyards in the municipalities of Montecalvo Versiggia and Santa Maria della Versa.

Winemakers for generations, in 2022 we decided to give birth to Cantina Tàia and start vinify our best grapes, those that are the strongest expression of our territory.

We strongly believe in doing but also in how to let others do. That's why all our vineyards are managed by people, men and women, who believe in the Cantina Tàia project and our desire to maximize the great potential of the area where they grow and ripen our grapes.

A precision viticulture, which changes based not only on the position of the vineyard and on the vine but also based on the oenological objective and the season, allows us to bring into the cellar the best grapes. Indeed, we like to say the most suitable grapes for our goals.

A dedicated and scrupulous enology guarantees us the exaltation of these grapes and guarantees us to bottle wines with character, identity, and a very precise style that goes hand in hand step with the Oltrepò: elegance, definition, extreme cleanliness and freshness.

We believe in an enology that respects the territory and the grape variety. An enology that can put in the glass the maximum expression of these hills and of all the people who work there.

OLTREPO' PAVESE RIESLING DOC

Riesling Renano 100%, form 20yeras old grapevines which grow at 436 a.s.l. on a calcareous soil. We harvest by hand in small boxes.  Vinification and fermentation are in concrete wine tanks.

A noble grape variety gives us an elegant white wine with a vivid straw yellow color with greenish reflexes. The nose offers a fresh and fragrant bouquet with notes of peach and white pulp fruit married with balsamic scents and notes that enhance its unique minerality. The palate is full-bodied and rounded with a pleasant mineral finish and a fresh acidity. Perfect to pare with omelets, vegetarian dishes and fished-based second courses.

OLTREPO' PAVESE PINOT NOIR ROSE

Form 20yeras old grapevines which grow at 436 a.s.l. on a calcareous soil. We harvest by hand in small boxes. The vinification is white with the soft pressing of the whole grapes that allows the extraction of the flower must. Static clarification is followed by temperature-controlled (16°C) fermentation for three weeks. After racking, the wine is refined in stainless steel tanks before bottling.

Obtained from Pinot Noir, the most representative grape variety of our area, this wine presents an elegant crystal clear soft rosè color. The nose is fruity with scents of cherry and yellow fruits, citrus notes and aromas reminiscent of wildflowers. A pleasant sensation of freshness with an interesting prolonged finish. A perfect companion for appetizers or seafood risotto.

IL ROSSO

A blend of Pinot Noir and Barbera. Harvest is by hand in small boxes.

Each variety has its own dedicated vinification and only after racking, the two wines are combined and aged in concrete to enhance their features.

Pinot Noir and Barbera play a starring role in our area and give us a wine of an intense ruby red color; on the nose, scents of black currant, raspberry and violets prevail backed by rhubarb and licorice. Silky and not intrusive tannin from the Pinot Noir perfectly balances with a pleasant freshness coming from the Barbera. A wine of unusual elegance. Perfect to sip with Osso Buco alla Milanese with Saffran Risotto.

A Oltrepò Pavese Metodo Classico Pinot Noir DOCG is resting on the yeasts and a Pinot Noir dell'Oltrepò Pavese DOC is refining in barriques.
