About Winery and Wines

The Catalano family has been immersed in the world of vineyards and wine for three generations, starting with a small vineyard in the Spinasanta district, established by their grandfather through the agrarian reforms of the 1950s. Over the years, the family’s dedication to viticulture has grown, with Rosario Catalano now leading the way, blending tradition with innovation. After studying biology and oenology, Rosario gained valuable experience in wineries, particularly in the Cerasuolo di Vittoria region. Under the guidance of Totò and Rosario, the estate has expanded to over 10 hectares of vineyards between Gela and Butera, located in ideal sites for cultivating exceptional grapes at 400 meters above sea level. The Catalano family is dedicated to producing high-quality wines that reflect their love for the land, utilizing organic farming techniques and sustainable practices. Visitors to the estate can explore the vineyards, experience the winemaking process first-hand, and discover the rich history of the family and the wines they create.

The Catalano winery crafts a range of artisanal wines using traditional and organic methods, highlighting the unique terroir of Sicily. Their flagship wine, Ruchè di Castagnole Monferrato, offers floral aromas with hints of berries and spices, delivering a soft and lingering taste. The Barbera d'Asti stands out with its intense red color, fresh fruit aromas, and vibrant floral notes. For white wine enthusiasts, Piemonte Cortese boasts a complex profile of white peach, apricot, and a delicate mineral nuance. The Monferrato Dolcetto impresses with its deep red hue and notes of red fruits, while Freisa d'Asti charms with rose and raspberry scents. Each wine is crafted with passion, using organic farming techniques, manual harvests, and careful vinification to create rich, expressive wines that honor the Catalano family's heritage.
