The woman who welcomed us took us on a very nice winery tour, explained the history of the cellar and specifically the tradition of vinho da talha. It was very interesting and informative not only on the wine tradition but also on other food, drinks and cultural traditions of Alentejo. The passion and the knowledge she shared made the experience even more special. The wine tasting was superb, the quality of the wines and local products was outstanding.
After the wine tasting, we stopped for lunch at the restaurant ‘País das Uvas’ owned by the same family of the winery and it was superb! Highly recommended as well!

About Winery and Wines

Honrado Vineyards, with nearly two decades of experience producing Talha Wine, embarked on an exciting new journey in 2018 with the opening of the Cella Vinaria Antiqua Winery-Museum. This project was born out of a desire to preserve and honor the ancient winemaking tradition of Talha Wine, a practice that dates back to Roman times. Visitors to the Winery-Museum are transported to a historical atmosphere that echoes the first experiments with fermenting grapes in large clay pots, where the earliest wines were crafted.

At Cella Vinaria Antiqua, travelers can explore this remarkable heritage through guided tours, immersive wine-tasting experiences, and cultural events, all set within the beautifully preserved structure that seamlessly blends history and innovation. Honrado Vineyards is deeply rooted in the Alentejo region, and the Winery-Museum offers a unique opportunity to explore the rich cultural and historical tapestry of this winemaking tradition in an authentic, memorable setting.

Honrado Vineyards is proud to carry forward the family tradition of producing Talha Wine, a process that spans three generations. In 2016, the winery launched its first official wine range, Talha, which embodies the purest values of this ancient winemaking technique. Honrado’s wines are crafted using clay pots, a method that dates back thousands of years, resulting in wines that are rich in history and flavor.

Today, Honrado Vineyards offers a diverse portfolio with five distinct ranges of red, white, and "palhete" wines, all made in the traditional clay pots. Each wine captures the essence of Alentejo’s terroir while reflecting the winery’s commitment to preserving the legacy of Talha winemaking. From bold reds to crisp whites, these wines offer a unique tasting experience, combining the rustic charm of ancient methods with the refined artistry of modern winemaking.
