About Winery and Wines

The valley formed by the Montsant and Gritelles mountains in the northeast of the Priorat region offers very particular conditions for growing vines and ripening grapes.

Our vineyards are located in Priorat and draw on the essence of the territory of Montsant and the Serra de les Gritelles, in the Cornudella de Montsant valley, at the origins of the Siurana river. The soils are clay, rolled pebbles, racorell and lime. We have a range of wines from the Montsant region from the Macabeo, Grenache and Carignan grape varieties.

Our semi-aged and aged wines follow a rigorous process of selecting the best grapes from old vines. Our barrel vinification conditions allow us to obtain the best from time and micro-organisms, from fermentation to aging of the wine.

 

 

GRITELLES MANOU Young and fresh red wine from the north of Montsant VINEYARD: El Manou and El Molí are terroirs of the Cornudella Valley, between the Montsant and Gritelles mountains, at an altitude of 500 and 600 meters GEOGRAPHICAL ORIGIN: Northeast of Montsant, County of Priorat, Catalonia VINEYARD AREA: DOP MONTSANT VINTAGE: 2020 BOTTLE TYPE: Burgundy of 75CL and 150CL GRAPES: Grenache Noir and Carignan ALCOHOL CONTENT: 14% vol. VINIFICATION: Harvest manually using crates between late September and mid-October. Alcoholic fermentation with skins of 16-18 days. A portion is fermented with whole clusters along with the grape. Co-fermentation of varieties from the same farm. It has a short aging with barrels. Matured on the lees for 6-8 months.

GRITELLES SIURANA NEGRE Red wine aged in oak barrels VINEYARD: El Manou and El Molí are terroirs of the Cornudella Valley, between the Montsant and Gritelles mountains, at an altitude of 500 and 600 meters. GEOGRAPHICAL ORIGIN: Northeast of Montsant, County of Priorat, Catalonia VINEYARD AREA: DOP MONTSANT VINTAGE: 2018 BOTTLE TYPE: Burgundy of 75CL and 150CL GRAPES: Grenache Noir and Carignan ALCOHOL CONTENT: 15% vol. VINIFICATION: Harvested in boxes from late September to early October. Alcoholic fermentation with skins for 16-18 days. It ages for approximately 12 months in 300 and 225 liter barrels with their yeast.

GRITELLES ARGENTERA GARNATXA - L’ESSÈNCIA Grenache Noir from Vinyes Velles de Costers del Montsant VINEYARD: Argentera and Roigé are located at an altitude of 650 meters at the foot of the Serra Les Gritelles, where the Siurana river rises in the Cornudella valley. These are vineyards of Grenache Noir from 45 year old vines. GEOGRAPHICAL ORIGIN: Northeast of Montsant, County of Priorat, Catalonia VINEYARD AREA: DOP MONTSANT VINTAGE: 2019 BOTTLE TYPE: Bordeaux of 75CL and 150CL GRAPES: Grenache Noir – single variety ALCOHOL CONTENT: 15% vol. VINIFICATION: Harvested by hand in boxes in early October 2019. Alcoholic fermentation with native yeasts for 24 days. Matured on the lees for 18 months in a 225 liter barrel.

GRITELLES ARGENTERA CARINYENA – EL PARFUM Carignan from Vinyes Velles de Costers del Montsant WINE: GRITELLES ARGENTERA CARINYENA – EL PERFUM VINEYARD: Argentera and Vedrenyes are located at an altitude of 500 to 600 meters at the foot of the Serra e Les Gritelles, where the Siurana river rises in the Cornudella valley. These are Carignan vineyards made from 45 year old vines. GEOGRAPHICAL ORIGIN: Northeast of Montsant, County of Priorat, Catalonia VINEYARD AREA: DOP MONTSANT VINTAGE: 2019 BOTTLE TYPE: Bordeaux of 75CL and 150CL GRAPES: Carignan – single variety ALCOHOL CONTENT: 14% vol. VINIFICATION: Harvested by hand in boxes in early October 2019. Alcoholic fermentation with native yeasts for 24 days. Matured on the lees for 18 months in a 225 liter barrel.

GRITELLES VEDRENYES Young white wine from Macabeo from Montsant VINEYARD: Exclusive wine from the Vedrenyes winery in the Cornudella de Montsant valley, between the Montsant and Gritelles mountains. GEOGRAPHICAL ORIGIN: Northeast of Montsant, County of Priorat, Catalonia VINEYARD AREA: DOP MONTSANT VINTAGE: 2020 BOTTLE TYPE: Burgundy of 75CL GRAPES: Macabeo – single variety ALCOHOL CONTENT: 13.5% vol. VINIFICATION: Manual harvest in September 2020. Vinification in stainless steel tanks at a temperature between 15°-17°C. Different vinifications to find all the expressions of Macabeo. Working with 8-month lees.

GRITELLES SIURANA BRISAT Orange Wine of Macabeo aged in oak barrels VINEYARD: The terroir of Sant Joan is located near the path of Sant Joan del Codolar, in the Cornudella de Montsant valley, near Siurana, between the Montsant and Gritelles mountains. GEOGRAPHICAL ORIGIN: Northeast of Montsant, County of Priorat, Catalonia VINEYARD AREA: DOP MONTSANT VINTAGE: 2020 GRAPES: Macabeo – single variety ALCOHOL CONTENT: 13.5% vol. VINIFICATION: Spontaneous fermentation of 20 days at controlled temperature. Alcoholic fermentation with indigenous yeasts. Aging in stainless steel containers and in French oak barrels for a period of one year.

GRITELLES MACABEU TROS DE LA SERRA · 1714 Macabeo Orange Wine with Priorat typicality INEYARD: The La Serra vineyard is located at the foot of Montsant, in La Morera de Montsant. GEOGRAPHICAL ORIGIN: Northeast of Montsant, County of Priorat, Catalonia VINEYARD AREA: DOQ PRIORAT VINTAGE: 2019 GRAPES: Macabeo – single variety ALCOHOL CONTENT: 14% vol. VINIFICATION: Hand-picked in early October. Winemaking with their skins. Alcoholic fermentation with native yeasts for 24 days at 17ºC. Partial aging for 10 months in 225 liter barrels with its yeasts. No sulfites added.
