Csalakatos Pince
About the Winery
Csalakatos Pince is a small family-run winery in the historic Eger wine region of Hungary, where we proudly produce natural wines with passion, humility, and minimal intervention. As the only natural winemakers in the area, we follow organic practices, use fermented teas for vine treatments, and work in tune with the lunar calendar. While not fully biodynamic yet, our philosophy is grounded in sustainability, tradition, and family. We farm just 2.5 hectares of vineyard—much of it inherited, mixed-varietal plots—and we do nearly everything by hand, from picking to pressing. Our journey began as university students, and today we continue it with our young children and extended family beside us. Every bottle we make is a reflection of who we are: rooted, curious, and eager to grow through connection and shared knowledge.
About the Wines
At Csalakatos Pince, we produce natural wines that are sulphur-free, unfiltered, unfined, and fully handcrafted. Our low-intervention approach extends from the vineyard to the cellar: hand-harvesting, manual destemming, foot-pressing, gravity flow instead of pumping, and small basket presses all help us preserve the purity and life of the grape. We grow a variety of grapes including Grüner Veltliner, Kékfrankos, Zweigelt, and Blauburger, on both volcanic and sandy soils, along with an old mixed plot reminiscent of a Gemischter Satz. Our evolving portfolio features Grüner PétNat, Grüner Dry, Grüner Orange, Red Light (Zweigelt), Blauburger, a Bull’s Blood-style Red Blend, and Blaufränkisch. Each wine is a labor of love—authentic, vibrant, and alive.
