About Winery and Wines
Domaine du Clos de Lassay has been nestled in the heart of the Loire Valley since 1650.
It is a small family-owned wine estate, renowned for its quality and deep respect for tradition. Today, it is run by Béatrice, the second female winemaker in 14 generations, and her husband Christophe, who joined her in 2010. This year, their son Antoine has also become part of the adventure, representing the 15th generation to contribute to the estate’s story. Together, they continue to pass down and preserve the know-how that has been handed down from generation to generation.
The estate covers 70 hectares of land, featuring a rich and diverse ecosystem of forests, small lakes, wheat and sunflower fields where our local beekeeper produces sunflower honey. It also includes 30 hectares of vineyards, with our oldest parcel now 63 years old.
Seven grape varieties are grown in Domaine du Clos de Lassay's vineyards: Chenin Blanc, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Floréal, Grolleau Gris, Cabernet Franc, and Cabernet Sauvignon. These allow us to craft single-varietal wines that highlight the distinctive character of each grape variety in relation to the terroir, the unique climate and soil of the Loire Valley, as well as blends, in keeping with the region’s historical winemaking traditions.
This art of blending, created by our winemaker Béatrice, brings out the perfect balance and harmony of flavors in our wines.
In creating our wines, we aim to pair each cuvée with a culinary experience. This approach enables us to offer a wide range of wines: white, rosé, red, and sparkling, with various levels of sweetness.
