Visiting Fattoria Fibbiano was a nice few hour visit with also great white, rose and red wines in the tasting experience. After the tour we even had a chance to taste the house lasagne as lunch on the outdoor terrace which made the whole group happy!

Weiter so!

Intimate winery experience

Our experience at Fratteria Fibbiano was lovely. Due to traffic, we arrived a bit late for our appointment, they were very accommodating and understanding. Our guide thoroughly shared her knowledge of the area, the grapes and the winery. The winery is a beautiful setting with a mix of old and new. I particularly enjoyed the small room sit down tasting. We were able to taste one wine with two different years. It was a unique experience to taste how the grapes and wine change as they age. Perfect pairing with a bit of cheese, meats, bread and the winery’s own olive oil. We all very much enjoyed the experience—-we sent wine back home to the States and bought some to enjoy for the remainder of our trip.

About Winery and Wines

At Fattoria Fibbiano, "real wine" is defined by its authenticity, rooted in the ancient, autochthonous grape varieties that have thrived for centuries in the Tuscan landscape, often with little human intervention. Sangiovese, Canaiolo, Ciliegiolo, Colorino, and Colombana represent the very essence of the land, embodying its history, voice, and soul. These vines grow naturally in harmony with the environment, producing wines that are anything but ordinary. The winemaker’s role is minimal; instead, the power of nature is allowed to guide the process, resulting in wines that are true to their origins.

Located in the municipality of Terricciola, within the picturesque Era Valley of Tuscany, Fattoria Fibbiano is steeped in history and tradition. The estate’s soil, rich with fossil shells and medium-textured corals from the Pliocene epoch, speaks to its ancient origins. This unique terroir is nurtured using only organic, chemical-free substances, ensuring that the land remains as pure and untouched as possible. Perched on a hill, Fattoria Fibbiano benefits from mostly south-facing vineyards, with 2.5 hectares strategically planted facing north to yield sweeter grapes during increasingly common dry periods. The red grape varieties are cultivated at the top of the hill, while the white varieties flourish in the valley below, allowing each to benefit from the best possible growing conditions.

The history of Fattoria Fibbiano is as rich as its wines. The estate dates back to 1707, as evidenced by a carved stone on the foundation of the house. In 1997, Giuseppe Cantoni purchased the farm, and today, his son, Nicola Cantoni, continues the legacy as a winemaker. The estate spans 20 hectares of vineyards, 5 hectares of olive groves, 12 hectares of woodland, and additional arable land, all maintained with a commitment to sustainability.

Fattoria Fibbiano spans a total area of 25 hectares of vineyards, 5 hectares of olive groves, 12 hectares of woodland, and the remaining land is dedicated to arable farming. The estate has a long-standing tradition of cultivating indigenous grape varieties, including red grapes such as Sangiovese, Sangiovese Forte, Sangiovese Polveroso, Canaiolo, Ciliegiolo, and Colorino, along with white varieties like Vermentino and Colombana. Under the expert guidance of winemaker Nicola Cantoni, the vineyard’s age reflects its deep-rooted history, with approximately 2.5 hectares of vines that are over 100 years old and another 14.5 hectares that are up to 20 years old. Fattoria Fibbiano produces a range of distinguished wines, including Le Pianette IGT Toscana, Casalini Chianti Superiore DOCG, Ciliegiolo, L’Aspetto IGT Toscana, Sanforte IGT Toscana, Ceppatella DOC Terre di Pisa Sangiovese, Fonte delle Donne IGT Toscana, Rosé IGT Toscana, and Morfeo Metodo Classico.
