About Winery and Wines
Fattoria La Leccia is a charming agricultural estate located in the heart of Tuscany, in the municipality of Montespertoli, about 200 meters above sea level. Surrounded by a vast forest of oaks that protect the organically managed crops, the estate boasts lands with favorable exposures and soils rich in complex clays and Alberese beds, ideal for producing a variety of high-quality wines.
The history of Fattoria La Leccia is deeply tied to the Bagnoli family. In 2013, the new generation of the family, after noticing the neglected condition of the property during a walk, decided to take over the management of the family business. Under their guidance, the estate embarked on a path of conversion to organic farming, with the goal of producing wines that reflect the authenticity and tradition of the land.
The company’s philosophy is based on the enhancement of the territory and sustainability. The presence of centuries-old oaks on the property is not only a distinctive element of the landscape but also symbolizes strength and longevity—values that the Bagnoli family seeks to embody in the management of the estate. The wood of the oak has historically been used to make carts and agricultural tools, emphasizing the deep bond between the family and the land.
The estate's lands are characterized by favorable exposures and soils rich in complex clays and Alberese beds, which impart a unique quality and minerality to the wines produced. These soils are ideal for cultivating grapes that give rise to a variety of high-quality wines, including Chianti DOCG, Chianti Riserva DOCG, and the Toscana IGT "Cantagrillo." The latter is a white wine made from Trebbiano Rosa grapes, which stands out for its intense color and aromas of candied fruit and Mediterranean notes.
Fattoria La Leccia is also renowned for producing high-quality sparkling wines, which reflect the same commitment to tradition and sustainability that defines their still wines. Among their sparkling offerings is the "Boh" Rosato Spumante, an elegant and refined sparkling wine made from Sangiovese and other native Tuscan grape varieties. This spumante is characterized by its delicate bubbles, vibrant color, and fresh, fruity flavors with a slight floral finish.
The production of sparkling wines at Fattoria La Leccia follows a meticulous process that combines modern techniques with traditional methods, ensuring the preservation of the region’s distinctive character. These wines are crafted using the "Metodo Martinotti" (Charmat Method), where the secondary fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks, allowing for a fresher and more aromatic profile. The "Boh" Rosato, for instance, offers a balance between the richness of Tuscany's terroir and the refreshing qualities of a well-made sparkling wine.
This focus on spumante production enhances the diverse portfolio of Fattoria La Leccia, providing visitors and wine lovers with a unique opportunity to enjoy not only their celebrated reds and whites but also exceptional sparkling wines that capture the essence of the Tuscan landscape.
Fattoria La Leccia also produces the Rubedo Classic Method Sparkling Wine, made entirely on the estate. This sparkling wine is crafted using the traditional Metodo Classico, which involves secondary fermentation in the bottle, resulting in fine bubbles and a refined character. The Rubedo is a testament to the estate’s dedication to high-quality production, offering a vibrant and elegant sparkling wine that reflects the unique terroir of Tuscany.
