About Winery and Wines

The winery of Giacomo Barbero was founded in the late 1800s on a small farmstead in San Grato di Valpone-a hamlet of Canale-by his great-grandfather Giorgio, whose life was dedicated to growing and making wine on the hillsides of San Grato and Montorino. Giacomo also had the fortune to live closely the experience of his father, who for 35 years was the sales director for Italy in the Barbero Group's wine sector. In October 2015, he took over the management of a 3-hectare vineyard in the municipality of Vezza d'Alba - in the Valmaggiore area - exactly in the heart of the Roero region.
Since then Giacomo purchased new land always in the Roero. New vineyards have been planted while others are about to be planted soon.

Giacomo Barbero's first year's production saw four labels: Langhe Favorita, Roero Arneis, Barbera d'Alba, and Langhe Nebbiolo: vinified only in steel tanks to fully preserve the native varietal scents. They were followed by Valmaggiore, Morinaldo, and Valtassera, respectively a Roero Riserva, a Barbera d'Alba Superiore, and a Nebbiolo d'Alba, the result of special research and attention to detail.
