About Winery and Wines
Gigliotto Tenute, established in 2007, is a 6,000 square meter winery designed using natural materials like wood and stone for optimal insulation. By 2016, the winery achieved organic certification, completing its production process with a focus on quality and sustainability. Equipped with advanced temperature control systems and modern oenological equipment, the winery processes wine in the most natural way possible to ensure high quality.
In the underground barrel cellar, wines are aged in French oak barriques, tonneaux, and traditional chestnut barrels following ancient Sicilian winemaking practices.
The estate also features a thriving agriturismo with 26 Sicilian-style rooms, offering breathtaking views of the Sicilian countryside. Open year-round, guests can enjoy stays with breakfast, half board, or full board, and savor authentic Sicilian dishes made from fresh, seasonal farm products. The restaurant seats 250 guests indoors and 200 on the panoramic terrace.
Visitors can partake in vineyard tours, wine tastings, and explore the estate’s 12 prestigious wine labels, making it a perfect destination for unique experiences in the heart of Sicily.
Gigliotto Tenute produces a range of wines deeply connected to the territory, with the first labels being Nero d'Avola, Vossìa, Venere, Conte Ruggero, and Kanzir. These were followed by San Michele, Patrisanto, Rossomanno, and La Ginestra. In 2017, the winery introduced Decimo, the first company blend of Nero d'Avola and Frappato, and also the first certified organic wine. By 2018, two more unique wines, Donnacristina and Dongiovanni, were added to the portfolio.
The estate's 20 hectares of vineyards are planted in sandy soils with clayey substrates, at an altitude of 400 meters above sea level. The vineyards benefit from the influence of winds from the Mediterranean Sea, just a few kilometers away. The vines, trained in the Guyot system, include varieties like Nero d'Avola, Chardonnay, Petit Verdot, Merlot, Pinot Nero, Frappato, and Zibibbo. Gigliotto Tenute has followed a philosophy of respect for nature and has been practicing organic farming for over 20 years.
