Founded in 2003 by Julia Melo Kemper, Julia Kemper Wines is rooted in a family heritage of winemaking that spans over 400 years. Located at Quinta do Cruzeiro in Oliveira - Mangualde, within the Dão region, the estate’s vineyards thrive on a high-altitude plateau, surrounded by a rich biodiversity of roses, olive trees, and a protected ecosystem. The Melo family’s deep knowledge and passion for the Dão region have been passed down through generations, resulting in the production of exceptional organic and biodynamic wines.

The winery focuses on traditional Portuguese grape varieties, including Touriga-Nacional, Alfrocheiro, Tinta Roriz, and Jaen for reds, and Encruzado, Malvasia-Fina, and Verdelho for whites. The wines are celebrated for their quality, with delicate acidity, floral aromas, and refined texture, earning national and international recognition. Julia Kemper Wines has been featured among the 50 best Portuguese wines and continues to receive prestigious awards.

About the Wines

The vineyards of Julia Kemper Wines are situated on hills ranging from 300 to 700 meters in the Dão region of Portugal. The soils are predominantly granite, with some areas of shale, quartz, and silica. The climate, with wet and cold winters and hot, dry summers, allows the grapes to ripen slowly, resulting in wines with complex flavors. Known for producing elegant, high-quality organic wines, Julia Kemper Wines offers red, white, and rosé wines that are vegan-friendly, with delicate floral aromas, balanced acidity, and exceptional texture.
