La Fonte di Bevagna

Winery in Montefalco

About the Winery

Azienda Agricola La Fonte is located just a few kilometers from Bevagna, encompassing 4 hectares of vineyards on both plains and hillsides. The estate is dedicated to producing high-quality wines by carefully managing the vineyard through every stage of growth. The well-structured soil, rich in clay, and the vineyard's favorable exposure create unique organoleptic characteristics that reduce the need for phytosanitary treatments. The vineyard primarily grows Sagrantino, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Sangiovese using the spurred cordon training system.

About the Wines

At Azienda Agricola La Fonte, the focus is on cultivating varieties that express the distinctive qualities of the Bevagna region. The vineyards, which include Sagrantino, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Sangiovese, are meticulously cared for to produce wines with diverse nuances each year. The spurred cordon training system, along with a planting density of 4,000 to 5,000 vines per hectare, ensures that the grapes develop exceptional flavor profiles. Each wine reflects the unique terroir and the careful craftsmanship that defines La Fonte's winemaking approach.

Excellent tasting experience
Excellent wine, both red and white, both blends and single varietals. The passito was also very good. Excellent view of the winery's vineyard, their own oil was also delicious.
I appreciated the explanation of the winemaking process and the accompaniment of cured meats with the red wines and crostini with oil and artichoke cream as a pairing for the whites.
I would have also preferred a short tour of the cellar.

Positive Experience
I booked a €25 tasting for the afternoon on 03/01/24 with my girlfriend and it was accepted even though it was just the two of us (not everyone does that, so it's a very positive thing).
Even though we were there in winter the location was appreciated, a veranda with a beautiful view of the vineyards. I still recommend booking in the summer to best enjoy the experience, as it takes place among the rows of the vineyards themselves.
For the price, I'd say we ate and drank more than enough.

Overall, a more than positive experience.

A highly recommended experience!
Delicious wines, accompanied by mouth-watering delicacies prepared on the spot with typical local products! In addition to their kindness and professionalism, the brother and sister express all their passion in their products (I bought 2 wines, because they were too good not to take them with me!).
An absolutely highly recommended experience!

Family Tasting
The tasting took place on a very welcoming veranda with an enchanting view of the vineyards and the valley. It was accompanied by the dishes of a very pleasant light lunch. Excellent hospitality also for our little girls, who really appreciated the bruschetta with oil.

Pleasant
5-wine tasting, some bruschetta, a small taste of cured meats.
There was no visit to the vineyard but we saw where they produce and store the wine.
The young lady was kind, the price was fair.

Wine glasses among beautiful scenery
There were 3 of us: me, my wife, and my 3-year-old son. We spent 2 hours in total relaxation, pampered by the owners while we tasted 5 excellent organic wines, with a view of the hills and plenty of space for the little one to play. Excellent organic wines, from rosé to red, made with thought and criteria, respecting the raw material and the rhythms of nature. A stone's throw from the center, in the truest sense of the word. What can I say, an excellent experience for us.

A great discovery
The wine was truly of excellent quality, it presented a harmonious balance between its components (acidity and alcohol), and was accompanied by abundant and fresh "tastings" of excellent quality.
The staff, besides being good for a chat, proved to be very knowledgeable in their explanations of the tasting.
As a suggestion, I would like to invite you to enhance the internal cellar.
For example, by letting more light into the room and making it more spacious. For my taste, the space was small, poorly lit, and not very comfortable.
