Marchesi Pancrazi
About the Winery
Immersed in the beautiful Tuscany, just 20 km from Florence, in Montemurlo, between the charming cities of Prato and Pistoia, the Marchesi Pancrazi Farm stands at the foot of Monte Ferrato. The heart of the estate is the historic Villa di Bagnolo, built in the 1500s by the noble Florentine family of the Strozzi princes, surrounded by 5 hectares of Pinot Noir vineyards, 3,000 olive trees, and 45 hectares of pristine woods.
In 1965, the Tenuta di Bagnolo was inherited by the Pancrazi family. Vittorio Pancrazi decided to replant the vineyards. It was at that moment that a nursery error led to the planting of Pinot Noir vines instead of the traditional Tuscan Sangiovese.
Only in the 1980s did the expert eye of the oenologist Dr. Nicolò D’Afflitto notice the mistake, and, understanding the potential derived from the terroir, it was decided that from 1989 onwards, to dedicate exclusively to the cultivation of Pinot Noir, producing the first Pinot Noir of Tuscany.
About the Wines
Pioneers of Pinot Noir in Tuscany, a variety we carefully cultivate in the vineyards at the foot of Monte Ferrato. Thanks to the unique microclimate and mineral-rich soil, Pinot Noir stands out for its quality and complexity. The wines are made from different clones of Pinot Noir of French origin.
Pinot Nori Rosé "Villa di Bagnolo" IGT Obtained from the vineyards of Villa di Bagnolo, near the homonymous torrent at 150 meters above sea level, where Pinot Noir is present in several clones.
Pinot Noir "Monte Ferrato" Red Tuscan IGT Obtained from the vineyards at the foot of Monte Ferrato, which were originally the protagonists of the error by the nurseryman, where, in 2011, the vineyards were replanted with 2 different clones. Aging in French oak barrels of 3rd and 4th passage for 12 months and subsequent bottling.
Pinot Noir "Villa di Bagnolo" Red Tuscan IGT Obtained from the vineyards of Villa di Bagnolo, near the homonymous torrent at 150 meters above sea level, where Pinot Noir is present in several clones, coming from Burgundy, selected over the years.
