Peppucci
About the Winery
It was in the late 1980s that Piero Peppucci and Luisa Giontella – seeking a place in the Todi countryside where they could raise their children, Elisabetta, Filippo, and soon after, Agnese, in close contact with nature – happened upon Sant’Antimo almost by chance.
Although completely abandoned, the monastery, built by Benedictine monks of the Vallombrosan Congregation around the first half of the 13th century, still retained all of its charm. It is no coincidence that Renzo Pardi, in his book “Ricerche di Architettura Religiosa Medioevale in Umbria” (Research on Medieval Religious Architecture in Umbria), describes it as one of the most fascinating and interesting settlements in all of medieval Umbrian architecture.
From that moment on, all of their efforts were dedicated to bringing that marvel back to light. They initially made it their home and then, with the acquisition of the surrounding land, the center of a new and greater adventure: producing their own wines right here.
They then proceeded to plant new vineyards, selecting premier native grape varieties such as Grechetto di Todi, Sagrantino, and Sangiovese, alongside international varieties like Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Merlot.
In 2010, the construction of the new winery was completed, allowing them to raise the quality of the wines produced to even greater heights; a place designed not only to work under optimal conditions, but also to welcome wine enthusiasts and share everything that makes Peppucci wines what they are.
A story of love, patience, and dedication that has involved the entire family over the years, and is represented today by Filippo Peppucci, who manages the entire operation, from production to marketing.
