Podere Ortica is a winery deeply rooted in the principles of respect—for nature, the environment, and the consumer. We believe that great wine begins with a healthy vineyard, which is why we use green manure to naturally fertilize our soils and employ a combination of propolis, essential oils, algae, copper, and sulfur to protect our plants. This holistic approach ensures that our vineyards thrive in harmony with the surrounding ecosystem. At Podere Ortica, our philosophy is not just about making wine; it's about nurturing the land and producing wines that are as kind to the earth as they are enjoyable to drink. At Podere Ortica, we focus on producing wines that emphasize drinkability and respect for tradition, all while incorporating modern techniques to enhance quality. In the cellar, we respect the natural qualities of the fruit, allowing fermentation to occur spontaneously without interference. Our process involves short macerations in cement or steel tanks, with daily racking to ensure gentle extraction of flavors. The wines are then bottled in early summer without filtration, relying on the natural clarity achieved through the cold winter months. This approach results in wines that are pure, unfiltered expressions of the vineyard, offering a taste of tradition with the benefits of modern viticulture.
