Poderi Luigi Einaudi Azienda Agricola Srl

The history of the Poderi Luigi Einaudi started in 1897, when Luigi Einaudi, still only 23 years old, acquired the farmhouse "San Giacomo" in the burgh of Dogliani, a noble eighteenth-century building with a chapel in ruins and 40 Piedmontese giornate of vineyard (40 acres). Under the enlightened leadership of the Senator Luigi Einaudi, the Poderi Einaudi began bottling of the Dolcetto and the sale of this wine outside the regional borders where it was relegated.

The 'Professor', as was affectionately called in Dogliani, he never neglected his vineyards despite numerous professional commitments and the onerous task of President of the Republic.

The residents of Dogliani remember that he was never absent from San Giacomo during the grape harvest.

The Einaudi family has inherited the passion of the founder and continued to improve the vineyards and the technical procedure for to obtain the highest quality of grapes, an indispensable condition to get great wines. The work takes place into the cellar, located in the Tecc propriety, completely underground to reduce the environmental impact and ensure a constant temperature and humidity.

The wine making starts in fermentation tanks of steel with computer controlled pumping over and the wine matures in medium and small barrels of French oak and the ageing is completed in bottles. The Poderi Einaudi continue to grow by investing in the best vineyards available in the area of Barolo production.

The latest acquisitions are the prestigious 'Vigna Villero and Monvigliero' in Verduno and Castiglione Falletto and four acres in the hills of Barbaresco. Today the 75 hectares of vineyards that are part of 165 hectares total are cared of workforce who lives into the 11 farmhouses located within the estates.

The wines are produced exclusively with grapes that came from the vineyards of propriety.

Matteo Sardagna, son of Paola Einaudi, is the responsible for conducting of Poderi Einaudi and he continues to following the family tradition and the teaching of the President: "innovation respecting tradition."
