Poggio Santa Maria

Winery in Lake Trasimeno

About the Winery

Poggio Santa Maria is a farm born out of a deep-rooted passion for nature, the countryside, and a heartfelt connection to the land where my paternal grandparents were born and lived. This project is a tribute to their legacy and a realization of my own desire to return to the roots of my family traditions. While continuing my work as a dedicated physician, I have embraced the agricultural lifestyle, transforming this estate into a welcoming retreat where guests can experience the authentic spirit of the Tuscan countryside. Nestled in the rolling hills of Tuscany, Poggio Santa Maria offers visitors a chance to immerse themselves in the region’s rich history, breathtaking landscapes, and the timeless beauty of rural life. Our estate is not just a place to stay, but a place to connect with nature, explore the traditions of the land, and enjoy the tranquility that this unique setting provides. At Poggio Santa Maria, we are committed to sharing the values of our ancestors, offering a genuine and enriching experience to all who visit.

About the Wines

At Poggio Santa Maria, our wines are crafted with the same care and respect that we give to the land itself. The vineyards are a vital part of our estate, where the unique terroir of Tuscany shines through in every bottle. We focus on producing wines that capture the essence of our surroundings, with a deep commitment to quality and tradition. Each grape variety is carefully cultivated, harvested by hand, and transformed into wines that reflect the rich flavors and aromas of the region. Whether you are enjoying a robust red or a delicate white, our wines are designed to complement the natural beauty of Tuscany and enhance the experience of those who visit our estate. The wines of Poggio Santa Maria are more than just a product; they are a celebration of the land, the climate, and the centuries-old winemaking traditions that have been passed down through generations.

Great experience
We treated ourselves to this beautiful experience during our week of vacation in the area. Excellent wine and food and a very welcoming location with a lake view.
It wasn't clear if dogs were allowed or not.

Incredible experience!
Intrigued by the excellent reviews and the splendid images, I treated my partner to the tasting offered by the Poggio Santa Maria winery.
We were welcomed by Francesca, who with extreme friendliness, professionalism, and knowledge, gave us a tour of the estate and the cellar, telling us the stories of the place and the territory, to then finish with the fabulous tasting of their 5 wines, each one better than the last, and their fresh and abundant products.
A special thanks also to Massimiliano, the owner of the estate, with whom we had the pleasure of chatting until the end of the experience.

Wonderful experience
I was in this wonderful place with my fiancée. The welcome was fantastic. We had the chance to taste this producer's amazing wines in a relaxing and familiar atmosphere. The food was also abundant and of excellent quality. The owner and the staff were friendly and treated us with extreme kindness. I also made some purchases before leaving. What can I say... I will definitely come back. And in fact, I'm taking this opportunity to thank all the people at Poggio Santa Maria for making us spend such beautiful moments. Thank you and see you soon
No suggestions. Everything is perfect as it is.

Great experience at Poggio Santa Maria
We had the pleasure of visiting Poggio Santa Maria during our time in Umbria. What a spectacular location! The panoramic views from the tasting room are absolutely stunning. Francesca, our guide and hostess, took such good care of us and was both charming and delightful. We enjoyed the wines we tasted and the aperitivo served with the wines was equally enjoyed. And getting to meet and speak with the owner, Massimo, towards the end of our visit was great. Truly a highlight of our travels in Umbria.

Excellent tasting with a fantastic view
Immersive and memorable experience. The location overlooks the Umbrian shore of Lake Chiusi, detailed and attentive is the care for details. Starting from the cellar, arriving at the tasting room.
The wines are truly good. The rosé wine was a beautiful discovery. The entire tasting was accompanied by typical food that was definitely spot-on. The owner was also present at our tasting, who is a very helpful and kind person.

Incredible value for money and such a wonderful tour
This far exceeded all expectations. We were treated to a lovely tour of the facility which is super modern and slick, and the team were all so kind and knowledgeable. We then sat down and were given bread with olive oil (olives grown on site), a huge spread of food (bread with grain grown on site), and of course wine. 4 wines, all delicious, plus another glass of our favourite at the end. The views are incredible, it felt like paradise, we just wished we could've stayed longer.

If you're not in a car make sure you book taxis in advance, we made the mistake of leaving it last minute and almost couldn't go!
No it was perfect
