POGGIOTONDO : THE WINERY

Poggiotondo is a family business founded in 1968 by Carlo Antonini, father of Alberto Antonini (current owner with his wife Alessandra), in Cerreto Guidi in the heart of Chianti, halfway between Pisa and Florence. Today it has about 50 hectares in Chianti in the sub-zones Chianti Terre di Vinci and Chianti Montalbano, plus some plots of land in the Chianti Classico - UGA Montefioralle. It mainly produces Sangiovese, some red vines that complete the traditional blend of Chianti, namely Canaiolo and Colorino, Vermentino for the whites. The care of the land, the vineyard and the attention in the cellar follow the principles of sustainability and organic viticulture, trying to enhance what Alberto defines the "magic trio": soil, plant and climate, producing wines of great energy, minerality and purity. As Alberto always says… “To do less, you need to know more” …
