Opera d'arte

Impressionante e magica la location. Vini eccellenti.
Sono stato qui in occasione della consegna del diploma AIS. Visita in cantina e cena. Abbiamo degustato sia "Ferrari" che "Tenute Castelbuono".
Spettacolo!

Un incontro tra arte e vino

10/1/15

About Winery and Wines

The Carapace of the Tenuta Castelbuono estate is defined by the history of the Lunelli family, a story born of a constant drive for excellence whose expression is manifest in an exemplary manner with Ferrari, the Italian leader for traditional method sparkling wine and among the top ten in the world. The Lunellis, who have been the owners since 1952, created the fortune of Ferrari. They bought it when it was a cellar of ten thousand bottles a year, now it has reached the summit with more than five million bottles annually. The Lunellis, after having devoted more than half a century to Trentino and having enhanced the land, wanted to venture into other challenges in other territories. They traveled to Umbria and were conquered by the charm of this land and by one of its wines; the most powerful, the most magical, the most expressive of this land, the Sagrantino. They acquired the Tenuta Castelbuono estate and arranged the vineyards. Then, there was the problem of designing the winery without disturbing the extraordinary environment: the dream was a construction that could merge into the landscape, as if it were a part of it, as if it were born from the landscape itself. A dream which was assigned to an old family friend, Arnaldo Pomodoro, one of the greatest contemporary sculptors, who had never experimented with architecture. The Carapace was realized; the first sculpture in history in which one can live and work, a sculpture where wine is created, a sculpture-cellar. Already during his first visit to Castelbuono, Pomodoro had thought of the shell of a tortoise, a symbol of longevity, which appeared to arise from the undulations of the vineyards. So it was: a signature winery for a signature wine, like the Lunellis wanted.
